WHEEL BALANCING
& ROTATION.

A vibrating steering wheel at Parkway speed usually means an out-of-balance wheel. Regular rotation also spreads tyre wear evenly so your set lasts longer.

Sound familiar?

Signs you need balancing or rotation.

Vibration through the wheel

A buzz or shimmy that gets worse the faster you go on the Monaro Highway usually points to an unbalanced front wheel.

Uneven tread across the set

Fronts wearing faster than rears (or vice versa) is normal on front- or rear-drive cars, rotation evens it out.

Haven't rotated in 10,000km

Most manufacturers recommend rotating every 10,000-15,000km, easy to lose track of between services.

New tyre still vibrates

A freshly fitted tyre that still shakes the wheel almost always needs a re-balance.

Frequently Asked

Questions answered.

How much does wheel balancing cost?
Balancing starts from around $25 per wheel indicative. A full four-wheel rotation and balance package is typically around $49-$89 depending on wheel size.
How often should I rotate my tyres?
Most manufacturers recommend every 10,000-15,000km, or roughly every second service. Rotating regularly spreads wear evenly and can add real kilometres to a tyre's life.
Why does my steering wheel vibrate at highway speed?
The most common cause is an out-of-balance front wheel, especially noticeable on long flat stretches like the Monaro Highway. It can also point to a bent rim or worn suspension part, we'll check both.
Can balancing fix a vibration from a new tyre?
In most cases yes. If a newly fitted tyre still vibrates after balancing, we'll check for a bent rim or tyre defect before looking further at suspension.
Do you rotate spare or run-flat tyres?
Standard spares aren't usually included in rotation, but we'll check pressure and condition while your car is with us regardless.
Is rotation different for AWD vehicles?
Yes, AWD and 4WD vehicles need consistent tread depth across all four tyres to protect the drivetrain, we follow the manufacturer-specified rotation pattern for these.
